Slow motion

Nothing captures the raw power and beauty of the ocean quite like slow motion wave photography. In the previous two galleries, I freeze the action of the waves with a fast shutter speed. Slow motion photography is just the opposite. Variations in slow shutter speed cause different effects from a dreamy, milky effect to different degrees of motion capture depending upon the relative slowness of the shutter speed. Slow motion images can be exciting and still reflect the power and energy of waves or they can be so slow that they are mesmerizing, calming and serene. I like them all but tend towards capturing varying amounts of raw energy.
